Sometimes it pays to get annoyed with what you are trying to produce with a painting as it can create new feelings and then a different end product.
I'd started trying out several new techniques such as a small soft roller and then cardboard tube rollers with string or bubble wrap embeded in them. Colours ranged from Burnt Orange to Alizerin Red and Purple to Ultramarine Blue. However, every which way there was no passion in the picture.
I got so frustated and annoyed that I took severe action by using the soft roller to obliterate the canvas with Burnt Orange followed by some viscous spatula work using the Ultramarine Blue. Next the edge and tip of the spatula were used to score (or deface) the canvas and the vibrant picture came to rest - plus I felt a lot better!
Finally the edges were blended with the same two colours. The result was 'Retribution' in every sense of the word.
