Canvas initally covered with black paint and then scratched and gouged with both a spatula and hair styling brush to provide a firm textured base. Red and white added immediately using the same technique forcing the paint to follow the underlying contours.
Because too much interaction between the colours was evident the canvas was allowed to dry out before repeating the process but with just a spatula until the colours 'popped' off the canvas, dare I say after much 'Perserverence'.
