What a story there is behind this one. You can probably see a creature staring right back at you, but it was never painted with that in mind.
I was preparing a Burnt Sienna background by placing a few drops directly from the tube and smearing them with a kitchen roll. A small sheet from the roll was then scrunched up and used to give it some light and dark areas by wiping away or building up in certain areas. I liked the effect so much that I decided to abandon the final layer.
The final stage was to take a picture for my websites and there it was. A perfectly formed wild animal staring right back at me that wasn't as obvious on the canvas. I just couldn't believe it. The feeling was one of absolute astonishment and the title was even more appropriate if focusing only on the background (where was it leading you to - what could be down in the dark recesses) or searching out the uninvited main character. Hope you enjoy searching.
