Optimism

Created at the end of a week when I suffered several knockbacks as regards gallery submissions and booked activities. Had I painted with my focus dwelling on all those dissapointments the result would have been very 'dark'. Instead I decided to reframe my outlook to look for an opportunity that would excite me.

This resulted in 'Optimism' based on brisk and joyous stokes to produce a light and colourful mix on the canvas. Alizaren red went on first using a kitchen roll; burnt orange followed on a hollow roll of stiff plastic used to protect a bottle; purple was applied with a hand sized bubble wrap bag before white was smeared on with a spatula and then the whole piece scored with the spatula edge. Boy, did that make me feel better. Hope you like it.
